What does ADA video compliance require?
Under Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, your videos need closed captions for viewers who are hard of hearing, audio descriptions for viewers who are visually impaired, and an accessible web player that supports keyboard shortcuts. Meeting all three is what makes a video fully compliant. Captions alone aren’t enough.
How long does video remediation take?
Turnaround depends on video length: about 5 business days for videos 1–5 minutes in length, and about 10 business days for videos 5–10 minutes in length. Videos longer than 10 minutes are quoted individually once we’ve reviewed the file.
What's the difference between captions, transcriptions, and audio descriptions? Do I need all three?
Captions display the dialogue and key sounds on-screen in real time; transcriptions provide a full text version of the video’s audio; and audio descriptions are a separate narrated track that describes visual content for viewers who can’t see the screen. Which combination you need depends on your compliance goals.
